2006 Contest of Champions
The Highland Belles gave “magical” performances at the
Contest of Champions National Dance/Drill Competition
in Orlando March 3-5, 2006 and brought home awards befitting the
“National Champion” status they have won again! There were 60 teams
representing 16 states at this national competition held in Disney’s
spectacular Milk House Arena in the Wide World of Sports Complex.
Receiving top recognition for each of their routines, the Belles
represented Highland Park High School with heart, soul and beautiful

to Christie Crummel’s
first solo flight as Director and the Belles’ 2005 season that performed
5 extra play-off halftimes as the Highland Park Scots earned the State
Championship title! Wow…what a ride!
In the Extra Large Team Division,

Our continued heartfelt thanks to Bobbie
Baxter,
Priscilla Horn, Brooksie Braden and
Cynthia Mills for
orchestrating all of the events that surrounded this great Orlando
adventure! From synchronized travel arrangements, to wonderful
accommodations and a great party at the Coronado Springs Resort, these
Fab Four transferred endless hours of planning to four magical days for
the Belles (and quite a few parents!). Also, our thanks to
Brenda Brown for her
fast action in arranging for the 5 huge trophies to be shipped back to
Dallas. The trophies are proudly displayed in the display case.
Many thanks to Assistant Principal David
Williams and his wife, Susan. Both
were an integral part of the coordination and fun! Between shadowing our
Line and Lieutenant tryouts…and now the trip to Orlando...David has
almost earned his fringe! Thank you!
